    The Altamont Corridor Rail Project is intended to provide a "world class" rail connection between northern San Joaquin Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area via the Altamont Pass. The project would provide a dedicated passenger line capable of supporting intercity and commuter rail service, transforming the existing Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) into a modernized streamlined system and serving as a feeder to the California High-Speed Train system.
